Terrell Suggs, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, has a return date in mind, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh disclosed on Friday. He just didn’t specify what exactly the target date is.
“He has his target date,” Harbaugh said, according to the team. “He is doing well. The main thing we want to do now is make sure there is no setback, and he continues to get in shape and continues to get stronger.”
Suggs in on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he recovers from his Achilles tendon injury that he suffered in April. Suggs must stay on the PUP list for the first six weeks of the season.
The veteran outside linebacker has been a constant presence on the sideline and in meetings with the team.
In nine seasons, Suggs has 82.5 sacks for his career, including a career-high 14 sacks in the 2011 season.
Harbaugh acknowledged that it will take some time for Suggs to round back into his Pro Bowl form once he hit the field, but he has no doubt the five-time Pro Bowler will play this season.
“He is going to be back,” Harbaugh said.
